Shikisai-sha, leveraging the perspective cultivated through its experience as an art-related publisher, selects and introduces works by artists with distinctive individuality. It holds approximately 10 exhibitions annually and actively participates in art fairs both domestically and internationally. Based in Kyobashi, it promotes "TOKYO CONTEMPORARY KYOBASHI," strengthening the connection between the local community and art. Additionally, it has started planning exhibitions in Omiya, continuing to challenge itself to make art more accessible to those beyond art enthusiasts.
Tetsuo Mizutetsu
A painter who gained prominence in the 1980s with his "Flag Series." This series incorporated "international maritime signal flags," used for communication between ships at sea, as motifs, elevating them into works of art.
Mizutetsu lived in Italy, France, and Spain for an extended period, holding exhibitions in various locations. In 1987, he was invited to participate in a competition in Anzio, near Rome, where he received a special award. He was also commissioned to create stained glass for the Santa Anna Church.
His high recognition in the European art world is evident from exhibitions such as the "Picasso, Dalí, Chagall, Mizutetsu" (1989, Barcelona) and the "Dalí, Mizutetsu" exhibition (1990, Beaune, France). His artistic style is characterized by a matt texture with finely delineated lines, creating a sense of volume. Though abstract, his works have been compared to ukiyo-e prints.
Mizutetsu also participated in numerous art fairs, including Art Basel (Switzerland), FIAC (Paris), and Art Rio (Brazil). In 1998, he created a massive ceramic mural (32m × 6m) for the entrance hall of the "White Ring" at the Nagano Winter Olympics figure skating venue.
Mizutetsu passed away in 2025.
Yū Seto
A sculptor born in 1994 in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture. Seto's works mainly focus on wild animals, exploring natural sciences. The terracotta (clay) material used for his sculptures allows the artist's tactile sensations and traces to directly appear on the surface, creating dynamic and energetic pieces.
Seto exhibits and sells his works mainly through galleries, offering them both domestically and internationally. He appeared in the exhibition "Before the Breakthrough Next Generation Artists" in 2017. He also collaborated with the fashion brand "FRAPBOIS" for the 2018-19 A/W and S/S collections.
In 2020, Seto established a shared studio called "OKUDO STUDIO" and published a pen drawing collection titled "PROGRESS" through Nippobun Shuppansha in 2021. He also collaborated with the fashion brand "AUBETT" in 2022.
